Effects of Discrepancy Of Government Workers To Economic Development Of Nigeria.
By: Yusuf W.
In the labour
market many able man and woman are working helter scattered in search of white Collar and Blue Collar job.Few Nigerian
who are gainfully employed are strata into various level many are local
government workers, state workers and federal government workers.
As
matter fact, many graduates of our institutions prayed to work with federal
government than any level of government the main reasons behind this is federal
workers are well remunerated with
good conditions of services than any
level of government.This affect the
economic growth and development
of the country. The effects of the dichotomy of government workers in
the country are:
1. Many workers
in the state and local level look for all means to work with the federal
government because federal government
paid than the state thereby affect the stability of the workers.
2. It affects higher
productivity :Those people who have
developed strong passion for a particular field change their areas of their
interest as a result of poor salary and other conditions of services. For
instance teachers who is considered as a devoted and committed teachers but he
or she had to change profession and line
of interest because of irregular payment
and poor salary scale. Consequently,it affects people productivity in the field
of teaching and thereby affects production of responsive and responsible
citizens.
3. Personality
Clash between and among workers at various level:Expert considered civil
servant as government irrespective of
the level, yet those earn different salary and enjoys different conditions of
services.
In conclusion
government of Nigeria should restructure her Public Finance and her Fiscal
Policy in order to end unnecessary and
unhealthy rivalry between workers at all levels. If state workers earn the same
salary with their counterparts at federal level the problems of social mobility
and instability of workers would be reduce.
